Dr. Cheryl grew up in North Vancouver, BC. She graduated from University of British Columbia (UBC) with a Bachelors of Science in Applied Biology with honors, before receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. During her years at vet school, she met and fell in love with Chia; a prairie-special rescue kitty with frostbitten ears. The pair quickly escaped the harsh winters of Saskatchewan and returned to BC, where Dr. Cheryl enjoys venturing up mountains, admiring the scenic outdoors, and spending time with her family and friends.
Dr. Cheryl was awarded two scholarships for achieving Excellence in Clinical Medicine and Oncology, and she loves problem solving with pet owners about challenging medical cases. At Cottonwood Veterinary Clinic, she has special interests in small animal internal medicine, emergency and critical care, dentistry, and oncology. She is also a Fear Free Certified Veterinary Professional; advocating for stress-free veterinary visits and continuously addressing ways to reduce anxiety and fear responses in nervous pets.
