Bloodwork Services for Pets

Bloodwork allows our team at Cottonwood Veterinary Clinic to maintain your pet’s wellbeing. Pets age faster than people, so significant changes in your pet’s health can happen in a short time. Bloodwork gives us insight about your pet’s health levels, such as whether or not their immune system is working well or if they have any untreated diseases. Regular bloodwork helps us to ensure your pet can live the best quality of life. Call us at 604-824-5848 if you are interested in booking your pet’s routine blood test.

When would your team recommend bloodwork?

Our experienced veterinarians might request your pet have bloodwork completed for our wellness testing. Wellness testing helps us establish a baseline of their health and detect underlying issues early when they are easier to treat or manage. Our highly skilled veterinarians are trained to interpret the results of bloodwork to identify how our team can create a wellness program, based on your pet’s needs. If your pet needs surgery or general anesthesia, we will run blood tests before all procedures to make sure your pet does not have any hidden health issues.

How do you take my pet’s blood?

Blood is taken from a vein in the neck or leg and usually takes a few seconds. It is over before they know it.

Does it hurt them?

No, it is a quick process that our veterinarians help to make as painless as possible.

Did you know that 1 in 6 cats over the age of seven, and 10% of all healthy dogs suffer from high blood pressure? Similar to people, there is a myriad of medical conditions that can predispose dogs and cats to have high blood pressure (hypertension).
