Surgery can be an emotional process for pet owners and their furry friends. We understand how difficult it is to leave your pet in our care while you await the end of their procedure. What should I do to prepare my pet for surgery?

On the day of their surgery, your cat or dog should arrive with an empty stomach unless your veterinarian advises otherwise. Make sure not to feed them the morning of their procedure, especially if they need anesthesia. If their stomach brings up vomit during the procedure, they will not be able to swallow while under anesthesia. This could lead to suffocation or pneumonia. I’m worried about my pet’s upcoming surgery. How do you ensure their safety?

Our highly-skilled team takes every step towards ensuring your pet’s surgery goes well. If your pet needs anesthesia for their procedure, we do pre-anesthetic testing to ensure your pet will react well to it during surgery. Leading up to surgery, your pet will come in for a physical exam to ensure their overall health. During surgery, a veterinarian will be responsible for monitoring your pet’s heart, respiratory rate, blood pressure and other vital signs.

My pet needs anesthesia for their procedure. Is it safe?

Yes, anesthesia is safe for pets. Our clinic performs a physical exam and blood test on your pet prior to surgery to ensure they have no hidden health issues that will affect them when they are under anesthesia. A veterinarian will check your pet’s vital signs during the procedure to ensure your pet’s safety as well as to help them quickly respond to any issues that might arise.

What type of post-surgery care will my pet need?

Our veterinarians will consult with you to ensure your pet has the best post-surgery care. Care plans are specific to your pet and their procedure. This may include instructions for any medications your pet might need, a list of things you might need to monitor like ensuring your pet doesn’t lick their wounds and a follow-up check-in appointment. With recent changes to restrictions on businesses, we are pleased to advise that effective May 25, 2020 the restrictions on veterinary practices have been lifted. Based on these changes, below are some important updates to our operating policies.

1. WE CAN NOW SEE ALL CASES BY APPOINTMENT ONLY This includes vaccines, wellness exams, blood work, spays and neuters, dental services, and more!


  • Continue our "closed waiting room" policy to protect our clients and staff. When you arrive, please remain outside the hospital and use your cell phone to call us. We will take a history of your pet's health and discuss any concerns. A staff member will then meet you outside to bring your pet into the hospital for an examination. The Veterinarian will call you to discuss the recommended treatment plan. After your appointment, a staff member will return your pet to you outside, and take care of any needed medications and payment.
  • Continue the use of credit cards as the preferred payment method.
  • Continue with curbside pickup of food and medication (unless you have used our online store and are having your order delivered directly to your home). To place an order through our online store, visit our website and click on "Online Store".
  • 3. ONLINE CONSULTATIONS ARE AVAILABLE If you wish to connect with a veterinarian via message, phone or video, visit our website and follow the "Online Consultation" link.

    4. OPERATING HOURS We are OPEN with the following hours:
    Monday to Friday: 8:00 am - 5:30 pm
    Saturday: 9:00 am - 5 pm
    Sunday: Closed
